The main protagonist of KonoSuba. A sixteen-year-old Japanese teenager who became a game-obsessed shut-in after having his heart broken over his childhood friend during middle school. He is sent to the parallel reality after dying from acute stress reaction, forcing Aqua to come with him after she irritates him with her attitude. Kazuma is classed as an Adventurer which, despite being the lowest ranked class, allows him to learn various skills from other classes, albeit at an increased cost. Shinya Kougami is the main character and an enforcement officer who is tasked with managing crime. Shinya has a high criminal mentality, but because of his skills as a detective, he was released under the condition that he becomes an Enforcer for the Public Safety Bureau, Unit 1. Despite his natural grudge toward Makishima, they are actually somewhat alike, as shown in Shinya's ability to foresee Makishima's actions.
